Ja jag intervjuade inga mindre än While She Sleeps för typ två veckor sedan. Ja, jag har varit ganska lat när det gäller att lägga upp intervjun, tänker inte ens skylla på att jag har haft annat att göra. När jag intervjuade dem var det som om alla mina engelska kunskaper bara försvann, inte det bästa tillfället när man inte vill låta helt dum. Härligt gäng killar, intervjuade bara Mat & Sean men hela bandet ställde upp för en bild! Big shout out till deras turnéledare Elliot som sprang och hämtade mig hela tiden för att släppa in mig överallt. Förhoppningsvis så fick jag med allt som de sa korrekt,det var lite ord här och var som jag inte riktigt uppfattade. Tips: tänk på att allt de säger är med en Sheffield accent.
So how are you guys enjoying Sweden? You were in Stockholm two days ago..
Sean: Yes correct.
How do you like it? Is it nice?Â
Sean: Yeah it’s great, cold as fuck though.
Yeah it snowed two days ago.
Mat: We like Sweden, it’s cool, the shows here are fun, we always have fun when we come here. It’s a very beautiful country.
Sean: Many beautiful women.
Mat: Also,many beautiful women. Swedish women are…nice.
So you guys are from Sheffield, a lot of great bands come from Sheffield, like Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Pulp… why is that?
Sean: It’s something in the water probably. That’s what I’ve heard people say. It’s probably a lot i chemicals in the water. Mat continue..
Mat: It’s quite an artistic city I guess, so we got a lot of inspiration from different sort of areas, there’s like the really industrial side of the city, then there’s a really beautiful country side to the city. You can get a bit of everything from Sheffield, maybe that’s why it’s good.
Funniest thing you’ve seen someone in the audience do while you’re playing?
Mat: I get really pissed off when I see people yawning at me. That’s wrong,it’s not really an answer to your question. Funniest thing..hmm.. someone gave birth at a While She Sleeps show once.
Really?
Mat: Yepp.
Where was that?
Sean: We didn’t see it but it was going down.
Mat: It was going down in the venue, where was it..in Louisiana. They called the baby ”She” , haha no I don’t know what they called the baby.
What can fans expect from the new album?
Mat: The best While She Sleeps, While She Sleeps has ever made.
Okay so how has tour been? This is your last stop before you go home.
Mat: An adventure.
Sean: Steady drinking all the way through yes.
Mat: Lots of parties, lots of amazing people, the In Flames guys are awesome, the Papa Roach guys are fucking awesome,
Sean: Wovenwar is our new best friends.
Mat: We became best friends with Wovenwar. We shared a bus with them, that has been very fun. Lots of parties, lots of shows, it’s just been very- it’s been our biggest tour in Europe and it’s been really good.
Would you do it again?
Mat: Yeah, tomorrow.
So what song is the most fun to play live?
Sean: Death Toll is pretty fun. And probably Dead Behind The Eyes
Mat: Those two for me, Death Toll and Dead Behind The Eyes I think.
Sean: I enjoy them all a lot, very similarly.
Mat: They all have their different elements to enjoy so you get different thing from each song but probably a fast one, probably Dead Behind The Eyes for me.
When your making a new song, what do you begin with? Rhythm, lyrics…
Sean: It usually starts with music.
Mat: Riffs and music.
Sean: Big base layer of music and then usually the lyrics and the toning of the notes will come from the underlining, music sandwich.
Mat: And yeah, it’s like a little thing we make up, like a chorus, or some kind of thing that we’ve sort of written like a sing along thing or whatever and then we’ll build around that.
Do you do anything special before you go up on stage?
Mat: Drink whiskey.
Sean: Have a little bit of whiskey.
What brand?
Sean: JD!
Mat: Or Jim Beam.
Sean: It’s JD or Jim Beam. Not scotch, not scotch, bourbon.
Mat: Bourbon, what else do we do, we get our blood flowing, push each other around, bite each other and shit. Just get pumped up.
Anything you want to say before the interview is over?
Sean: Yes, I need to shave. *medans han stryker sitt typ skägg*
Mat: Sean needs a shave.
Sean: I need a shave and a shower.
